Tennis at Palmerston

Palmerston has 6 artificial grass courts which are available for members to use everyday, all year round. The tennis season proper runs from April until September and we try and cater for all standard of tennis player.

The Liverpool Tennis League starts at the end of April and runs through until the first week of August. We enter 6 men’s teams and 2 ladies teams. Danny Swain and Mike Whalley are our men’s captains and Alison Wolfe looks after the ladies. Team practice begins in early April on a Tuesday evening from 6pm and on a Sunday from 12pm. Our captains are always on the lookout for new players so if you are interested in playing for one of our teams then pop down to the club or drop us an email:

Our top men’s team is entered into the National Club League and the Lancashire Roscoe Trophy where we pit our skills against teams from all over Lancashire. Our mixed team competes in the local Roscoe and Brockbank competitions. We have junior teams in both the local Liverpool league and National Club Leagues and we use our Men’s 6th team to give our talented juniors a chance to play in the senior leagues. We also host our own club tournaments. We host American doubles tournaments in May and June and then our own Club Championships take place in July. In early September we host an Open Men’s Doubles tournament and an Open Mixed Doubles tournament.

Adults or Juniors looking for some coaching should check out our coaching page for information on squads and sessions. For those players who prefer a more social element to their tennis, we run social sessions on a Saturday morning and a Wednesday evening before our weekly quiz night.
