The new tennis season was officially launched yesterday at Palmerston with an American tournament and bbq. 24 players took the courts and braved the near gale force winds to try and play some fun but competitive tennis. The tournament was won in the end by Marc Black & John Griffiths who beat Danny Swain and Tom Kyle in the final. A big thanks to all who took part and to all those who helped with the bbq and the bar. It was a fun afternoon and evening and great to see the club so busy. The next social event will be our Champions League Final continental beer night on the 30th of May.

The Liverpool League starts for our teams tomorrow night with a home game for our Men’s A against East Wavertree A, while the Ladies A travel to Mossley Hill and the Men’s B travel to East Wavertree B. Lets hope the wind dies down a little!

With spring in the air the tennis season is beginning to get underway at Palmerston.

The 2011 league season kicks of on May 2nd so if you haven’t already started hitting then get down to the club on a Sunday afternoon or Tuesday evening for some match practice. Sunday practice starts at 12.30pm and goes onto 3pm. If you just fancy some social tennis then that will kick in at 3pm. Tuesday match practice starts around 6pm and goes on till dark.

New members are always welcome at Palmerston and we welcome all abilities. If you are new to tennis or fancy some coaching then check out our coaching section to see what we offer. If you are interested in team tennis then we have 6 men’s teams and 2 ladies teams entered in various sections of the Liverpool league. If you just fancy playing socially then we run organised sessions and our courts are open all year round. Please feel free to pop down to Palmerston to check us out. The 2011 tennis fixtures have been released with the season starting this year on the week beginning May 2nd. The Liverpool Parks tournament takes place on Monday July 11th.

The big news from the fixtures meeting was the withdrawal of Vagabonds A from Section A. The league committee decided to promote 3 teams from section B to make up the numbers, meaning Town Green join East Wavertree and Eccleston Park.
