Palmerston Success in Lancashire Championships

September 17th, 2011 No comments

There was success for some of our players at the recent Lancashire Championships held at the Bolton Arena. We had finalists in 3 events with 2 winners. Tom Kyle was our first success in the Under 14 singles, winning a hard fought match in match tie break after the first two sets were shared. Tom also reached the final of the doubles with Sam Pearce but they lost in straight sets. It was an all Palmerston final in the over 35 event with Marc Black taking on Kev Lewis but in the end Kev ran out a very easy winner.

Palmerston Men retain League Title

August 16th, 2011 No comments

Palmerston Men’s A retained their league title with a 5-1 win over Campion A on Tuesday. Campion A had been top of the league all season and Palmerston knew that only a win would be enough to clinch the title. The 5-1 scoreline does not reflect the closeness of the match with 3 of the 6 matches being won on a super tie break.

Palmerston Men’s B were promoted once again to section A after a 3-2 win over Campion B. The B team finished second behind Bohemians and there was further good news with the C team surviving a relegation scare to remain in section B after a good win over Waterloo.
